English Language Arts - Grade 7
Daily 5 ProgramSimilar to last year, I will be fostering “The Daily Five” program in language arts this year. It is a program that offers student choice, independence, and a more personalized method of learning literacy. Through the basic principles of trust, choice, and community, students are able to learn at their own ability and pace. It incorporates reading, writing, and spelling, and by offering student choice it makes these three things more meaningful.
I will be embedding curricular outcomes within the process of the Daily 5. For more information on the program itself, please peruse The Daily Five website at: http://www.thedailycafe.com/public/department104.cfm Spelling CityThis site is a great way for students to practice their spelling words through vocabulary and spelling games. Each student has their own log-in and are usually given certain "assignments" to complete to practice their words.
