Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli
This book was one of my all-time favourites to read this summer. It revolves around themes of prejudice, love, fear, and the concept of home.
The main character, Jeffrey Lionel Magee, sometimes known as Maniac Magee, and the people of the fictional town of Two Mills take you on an experience that, at times have you laughing and other times have your heart breaking.
I hope the grade 6's enjoy this book as much as I did and I do hope they can relate this book to some concepts in social studies.
How far would you run to find a sense of belonging?

Being an orphan and feeling lonely, Maniac wanted to find people with whom he could feel close.
