Persuasive WritingWhen we persuade someone, we are trying to get them to do something; whether it be to agree with our ideas or to buy one of our products.
Persuasive writing is a type of writing that's sole purpose is to convince the reader of a belief or opinion. There are 3 basic persuasive writing techniques: "ETHOS" The word “Ethos” means “character”. When you use the persuasive technique of Ethos, you persuade your audience into believing that you are an honest and good person. An audience tends to agree with someone if they like them. "PATHOS" The word “Pathos” means “emotions”. When you use the persuasive technique of Pathos, you persuade your audience by appealing to their emotions. "LOGOS" The word “Logos” means “Logic”. When you use the persuasive technique of Logos, you are using facts and logic to convince your audience. An argument is made stronger through the use of examples, facts, and statistics. |
