Social Studies 7The Social Studies Program of Studies involves the concepts of citizenship and identity in the Canadian context. Through an examination of the events that preceded and followed Confederation, we will begin to understand how Canada evolved into a multicultural, bilingual, pluralistic and diverse society.
We will be exploring the origins, histories, and movement of peoples who made Confederation possible and we will examine how the political, demographic, economic, and social changes that have occurred since Confederation have influenced our citizenship and identity. Through our explorations we will also be focusing on the skills and processes for Social Studies which include; dimensions of thinking, cooperative learning, research skills, and communication/presentation skills. |
