Democracy and the Charter |
We will begin our year learning about the four main pillars of democracy - Freedom, Representation, Equity, and Justice. Through these pillars and the historic Treaty of Le Grande Paix de Montreal our Charter of Rights and Freedoms was established.

Student Vote - The Electoral ProcessAncient Athens |
One of our democratic freedoms in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is the right to vote. Students will be learning about the candidates for our Federal Election and the voting process. Through the Student Vote program put together by CIVIX, students will be participating and casting votes for the election. Although it will be a mock polling station, the results of our vote will be shared with CIVIX whereby they supply the government and media with our results. This is a Canada-wide program and electoral results of all schools participating in Student Vote is shared.
Democracy was born in Ancient Athens.
